In theory,(I don’t really know 100% because I’m fairly new to this)as long as you have the right compiler you should be able to use any language.

not likely, most major programs have support for linux-ubuntu and you can run windows programs using wine.

Im sry…but windows users (me) should hate MAC ONLY…at least Unix allows people to develop without giving two shits…just like windows.
Now lets look at MAC…I rest my case

What type of programming can you do in Unix based systems? Can I do C, C++, C#, etc.?
I don’t really care much about the games area, since my comp cant really handle any of the good ones anyway…I just want to know if I can program so I can still learn them.

yeah, exactly. i would have switched by now too if it wasn’t for that. a friend of mine hates windows, and has 4 computers with Linux, but he has to keep 1 with windows for games. and my gf has a computer with vista, definitely staying away from that. need to buy me at least 1 other version of xp before they stop selling it in June.

The only thing keeping me from trying a Linux O/S at the moment is it’s lack of support of games. That’s the only real thing Windows has going for it. Linux folk need to pressurise nVidia, ATi and games developers to take them seriously. I’d switch in a heartbeat then. I’m certainly not switching from XP anyway.
