they removed gimp because it gave “too much extra” functionality that an average user would need and also it took a lot of hard drive space, i believe so that’s y they removed it.
You can still install it though, it’s jst that it wont be available in a fresh install.
I hope that answers ur question as u look quite angry at their decision of removing GIMP.

just do apt-get install gimp or use Ubuntu software center.
