These are the three os’s I currently have installed on my Compaq CQ61-225EO. The video is edited so load screen aren’t taking to much time(no hyperfast boot or shut downs IRL) I spent a lot more time showcasing Linux Ubuntu 9.04 due to the cool visual effects of Compiz and I also wanted to make it a reply to a video I saw the other day where some Mac User did some cool stuff with a lot of windows, the title of that clip was “Can you do this on a PC?”, which I wanted to show him that it was possible, as long as you run a decent OS. well, one has to get the network adapter working… unfortunately, I do not remember which one I picked during install… you have the same computer? Do you know where I could check(I’m no wiz when it comes to OS X)
hey how do you get the internet working in mac osx?
lool yeah linux mint 8 is comming out soon its based on 9.10 and will have ubuntu software center but renamed linux software center. i hope u enjoy linuxmint
ubuntu 9.10 gave me few problems tho. ill update after the update patches for 9.10 are out or when linuxmint 8 is out.
Hey, I’ll give that a try… have you tried the last release of Ubuntu, Karmic Koala? It has some new stuff which I guess is exclusive for Ubuntu(Ubuntu Software Center)… anywho, gotta download Linux Mint now.. it got me curius… guess I’ll have a quadruple boot in a couple of hours
@Fatlingon, ubuntu is great
you shouuld also try the new upcoming linuxmint 8 .. i beta tested it and its fantastic
you get with it everything from ubuntu plus java/flash/codecs/ and more programs
and better wireless drivers. dont get me wrong i used ubuntu for 2 years before i switched to linuxmint. i use mint 7 now
@Raja221 on my laptop I use Ubuntu exlusivly, just made the tripple boot thing for fun. I have very little use for vista, and OS X was more of a curiosity that I could show my Mac loving friends.
which of the 3 do you prefer? I run linuxmint and im in love with it
VERY STABLE .. i like ubuntu but when i tried mint 6 months ago i got stuck to it
linux looks really cool, im gonna install it when i get my new computer
thx FatLingon
i wold love to have Linux Ubuntu on my PC xD
Great Job
Well, quite frankly I do not know… The Compaq CQ61 does have a NVidia graphics card, but most pro gamers play on desktop computers since the graphic cards are more powerfull due to the availible physical space which can support bigger cards. I’ve never tried any 3D game except for the creature editor for Spore, which worked “OK”.
nice!! I like the way the song chanches for Ubuntu! great work man!
Hey dude whats up ?
hey could you tell me if the HP CompaQ CQ61 is good 4 games like cod4, soon cod6, crysis..etc ? im thinking on buying 1 i cant choose bettwen Compaq CQ61 or Toshiba L500 :S… Nice job btw
Are you serius? The hard part was setting up OS X since it isn’t supposed to be run on an non Mac PC… other than that, adding OS’s to the computer is easy, just make as many partitions that is possible and then install the OS’s you’d like to each and every partition. Then install a boot manager like Grub(the one I’m using).
Let me tell you this if you haven’t hear it before YOUR THE MAN.. To get a computer to run 2 operating systems is impressive but three Im spechless.. Your like a young Bill Gates.
Thanks!
No, the game engine is Windows only… tried it through Wine and it didn’t work… I guess it works through Virtual Box(+Windows) though.
But, I’m thinking about starting an open source project to gather coders to make an Metrovania engine with tools for making maps, sprites, cut-scenes, enemies, scripts etc. I believe the interest is quite big for fan made Metroid and Castlevania games. And it would be great if these tools was ported to both Linux, Windows and OS X.
Great video!
Btw, nice game Engine! Does it work on linux? =)
nice….does the linus can run on imac? instead of windows?
Well the computer came with Vista, so I used the partition editor from a Live Ubuntu CD to set up the partitions, then when I first installed OSX(ideneb 1.5.6) it wouldn’t start up after install… I ended up formatting the Vista partition(the first on the drive) and installed OSX on that partition. Then I installed Vista on the second partition, and then Ubuntu on the third and thus installing Grub, and I had to do a manual entry in Grub for OSX in order to boot from that partition.
oh nice
how did you set up your tri-boot? And what hackintosh setup are you using? I want to set up a hackintosh so I can learn to troubleshoot macs (and I’m asked to do so ALOT :S )
Cheers
Good vid
True, I will look into that XD
you could set up a dual boot system, both Linux and Windows 7
I’ve always been interested in Linux. It looks awesome. Unfortunately, I probably will never try it because Windows 7 is coming out soon and it is awesome (i tested it on a friends computer fro a few hours).
Not saying I have problems with Vista. I have an upgraded Dell Studio17 that can out-preform a Macbook Pro 13″, plus it was $200 cheaper.
I love Vista, but 7 just looks so awesome.
Thanks… 162 views, and you are the first(and only to comment).. poor me
cool great video !
