Dude, stop being an asshole. Linux is a totally legit OS! Ubuntu comes with more than a mac, and it’s easy to install apps with synaptic, and basically, it’s pretty much better than a mac!

  2. unlokia says:

Just looked at your setup, freetard; you WANT a Mac, but can’t afford one?. Don’t fuglify your Desktop by pretending it’s a Mac – save up for one!

  3. unlokia says:

Never realised a Mac mini was $1,500 :-/ … you must be confused. Ubuntu is a toy right to you guys; some of us have a life, and don’t wanna tinker all the time with broken/borked up drivers – when you’ve finished playing you can go and buy a Mac. Mac OS X is light years ahead of you; don’t need to get QUITE so defensive, ok?.

  4. silverfox1234 says:

where can i get that wallpaper from.

  5. chese0000 says:

unlokia… check the price tag on each of the operating systems.. considering you dont have to spend $1500 to get it on a computer like mac os x, ubuntu is THE SHIT!!!
and if you dont want IT.. YOU DONT HAVE TO INSTALL THESE EFFECTS!!!

  6. unlokia says:

It amuses me that the Linux community are STILL getting all excited and showoffy about (mainly useless) 3D fx and the suchlike; you really don’t need all that guff – it hinders you and slows you down. I want Expose to show me all my open windows, or shove them out of the way FAST, so I can see my Desktop. It’s not about how clever your useless 3D is (and that’s really nothing new guys) it’s how simple, elegant and USEFUL it is when you’re developing in Xcode, editing or whatever. Nice try guys.

  7. chese0000 says:

ehh… close enough, thats what i meant. lol. :P

  8. daejavoo says:

    Errr… no. 1TB is 1024GB.

  9. ozmium71 says:

OSX has Darwin at its core which came from BSD. BSD is itself UNIX-Like.

The only difference between UNIX and UNIX-Like is the certification which is EXPENSIVE.

Your comment below that Linux is not based on UNIX is incorrect. Linux is based on the Linux Kernel which used code from Minix (a UNIX clone) and BSD.

Apple is only “certified” to use UNIX for OSX because The Open Group (who holds the UNIX name copyright) took them to court over using the name UNIX without being certified.

  10. Koss42 says:

Please if you do not, in fact know much on a subject then do not state inaccurate hearsay as fact.

Linux is highly stable. Plus, we don’t have drivers.

  11. Koss42 says:

Of course, all of the above.

    P.S. If you don’t like openoffice… don’t use it.

  12. muhammatsu says:

    Linux is UNIX like
But OSX is Pure UNIX as it’s based on the orignal code of BSD

  13. chese0000 says:

    tb is a terabyte. 1TB = 1000GB :)

  14. 70534270210 says:

wow! el video esta chever y la cancion motiva mas ah usar el ubuntu 9.04!

  15. ozmium71 says:

They are all considered to be Unix-like. The main difference is whether they have been CERTIFIED with the single Unix specification. Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard is certified, Linux variants generally are not even if they comply because it is expensive to get certification.

In addition, Dennis Ritchie who is one of the original creators of Unix has suggested that all Unix-like systems (including Linux) are in fact defacto Unix systems. DEFACTO means in practice, without having been established.

  16. kirokw says:

But seriously… can you work with this OS? I mean, something like programming or editing video or working on design?

I don’t like openoffice, looks ugly and works worst!!

  17. AlexIncinerate says:

Thats really cool. Ive always wanted to learn how to use linux

  18. muhammatsu says:

linux is not based on UNIX idiot

Macosx Based on BSD is free UNIX
GNU/Linux is not Unix it’s Unix like

  19. checkityo455 says:

    ice but wats a tb

  20. chese0000 says:

Mac OS X is light years ahead of me huh? lets see here
    my pc – $450 – $600 w 22 monitor
    mac mini – $600 – no monitor
my pc – 4gb of ram
    mac mini – 1gb – this is a joke
my pc – 2.6 amd quad core processor
mac mini – 2.0 intel dual core
pc- hell of a lot of slots inside to install additional components
mac mini- sorry, no upgrades for you
my pc – 1TB hard drive
    mac mini – 120gb ha
there is nothing wrong w mac os x itself, i just hate how apple charges 3x as much for everything. ubuntu=free

  21. zachweiss says:

i have a macbook pro osx, and i think that this is pretty legit, i have to say they have definitely polished up this os. its looking veryy cool

  22. MasthaX says:

most of you complaining OSX fagtarts dont even know OSX is based on UNIX which the Linux core is too. It’s basicly the same.

  23. Jake7401 says:

    @imatuxuser
This video isn’t about the effect — although Compiz offers more effects than Apple ever has. It’s about the number of applications he’s starting, how fast, and the efficiency of the system as they are running along with Compiz with any effect enabled.

  24. imatuxuser says:

Apple must be proud to know that they have someone like you to vouch for their company, especially now since they have taken a severe bitch-slapping this year.

OS X is just as much eye-candy as Ubuntu. You like that completely useless shadow around all your windows, right? Or how about that special effect that occurs when you open, close, or minimize a program to the dock?

  25. phillipjfry6 says:

Anyway, for a normal GNOME desktop in ubuntu, you have a lot of KDE apps.
