i love it when little kids have absolutely no idea, without that GUI he would have no fucking clue how to use a computer, lol people should at least do some research before trying to burn someone, does he not understand that hardware is just a bunch of components tied together? all they can do is turn circuits on and off and then display an image.
Kids these days. Maybe he didn’t know that what he sees on his screen is called a GUI and he think MS/apple/Linux just make magical pictures appear on the screen. ITS ALL CODE behind the GUI. Take a class for visual basic and you’ll see wtf the real deal is-kid.

You are correct about everything you said in your video. Hardware and software work together, but the OS really is in control. It uses the hardware as it needs to. Like when it sends a request to get data from the CPU cache or RAM. Or when the OS decides it’s time to go in sleep mode, it orders the hardware to power down some. But yeah, very nice vid. It should help clear things up not only for the kid, but for other who may be mislead on that.
That’s my favorite movie, it should be a mandatory watch for everyone. Lol. Especially those who worship Jobs like he’s some kind of God…Apple was founded solely on the work of the Woz, Jobs was just a businessman who exploited his friend’s abilities.

computers a basically giant calculators, its about how many calculations per second it can do and algorithms its just alot of math basically and that is basically what a computer does and that creates the gui and so on and the processes its essentially just running numbers

The BIOS just controls the computer from the time it is turned on until the OS takes over. It basically just initializes the hardware and boots the OS.
Hang on – if the RAM is controlled by the operating system, then what is the point in a BIOS? Doesn’t that sit on a lower level to the hardware than the OS does??
