Ever wondered how to make your Ubuntu desktop more spiffy? It’s easy when you enable the desktop effects through Compiz Fusion, and I made a quick tutorial will to show you how. If you don’t know, Compiz “aims to provide an easy and fun-to-use windowed environment, allowing use of the graphics hardware to render each individual window and the entire screen, to provide some impressive effects, speed and usefulness.” – Compiz Website Here’s how you get started: First we will enable Compiz by …
U R pretty hot for a geek girl! :O
linux is ugly not because it does or doesnt have this effects (with are mostly useless) but because it looks so unpolished. For example fonts are terrible in 99% of distribution – yes you can change that – but why bother?
And compiz works terrible on my x3100 laptop – and i dont have time to play with it.
Did you go toAnimations, Effect settings and enable(Random animations for all events)?
Thats what I missed lol!
Thanks for the tutorial!
I just got Ubuntu running today and have been playing with Opensuse 7.1 for a few weeks,I hate Windows more and more each day lol!
Compiz is a manager for windows (this here is a window
. With Compiz you are able to make fancy effects when you minimize/restore/maximize/move a window. On example for an effect is “wobbling”.
Probably the default graphic driver doesn’t support hardware acceleration.
I don’t like the compiling. Also, Gentoo has nearly no wizards.
What theme are you using? It’s really awesome. Also, I can’t get the fire effect. Only some like slide and fade.
lol first your voice is very low
i love ubuntu
im going to be trying it for my first time today
actually second but first real time
You should be using debian, ubuntu makes u look like a nub…lol jk
i though you got comipz throught Application >add remove> search compiz and it is done the way you show looks more complex why
Yeah, I love Gentoo’s Portage. In my opinion, it’s far superior than Aptitude in Ubuntu. I also love the flexibility of installing what I only need, as opposed to what may be there already and installed for me, but it’s not as minimalistic as Linux From Scratch. On the other hand, I’m rather quickly converting to FreeBSD.
I enabled the burn effect but it still doesn’t show up any ideas why?
you’re just as hot as my Debian xfce desktop babe
*you’re
How the hell do you not know the difference between a window and a workspace?
I’m 12 years old and what is this?
Nice tutorial, pleasant voice
Very cool to see a girl using Linux
But your desktop is too dark xD
awesome tool ..!
your hot
Compiz works great under XFCE, I was using it while I had Mint XFCE edition and had no problems with it whatsoever.
Great vids for people just starting out, or just making the switch to *nix. Ubuntu is a great distro to start out with. So much more that can be learned, so keep up the good work. Archlinux & Gentoo all the way, any day!
Compiz is hella-smooth, but I’ll take a working libmtp and a Firefox that doesn’t crash on a daily basis over Compiz any day.
Nixie, you damn minx! Getting me all hot like that with that soft, bedroom voice and that hot Compiz action.
I’ll have you know that after watching this vid, I had to spend half an hour perusing Youtube Compiz porn.
yeah nix, your voice is relaxn and sexy
