As you have already seen the new login screen for Ubuntu Karmic Koala and post gdm xsplash. There doesn’t seem to be any utility for changing the splash nor the gdm. But hold on .. where there is a will there is a way.. ok scratch that lol moving forward. type the below command on the terminal window “gksudo -u gdm dbus-launch gnome-appearance-properties” and change the gdm background and to modify the xsplash just follow the tutorial.. Ubuntu is a free to use Operating System based off Linux. It’s much faster then Windows Vista and I highly recommend you give it a try! I experienced no trouble at all with it, however. I am not liable for any information/data loss to your computer. Link to download Wubi —- wubi-installer.org
