Red Hat Summit 2010: V2V
Saturday, August 14th, 2010 | Author: admin

This video demonstrates the V2V tools included in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. These V2V tools enables you to convert virtual machines from other virtualization hypervisors to use with KVM. www.redhat.com V2V is a tool designed to automate the conversion of VMware or Xen virtual machine images into an OVF file for use within Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. With V2V incorporated into the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2 beta, customers are able to take Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, 4 or 5 virtual machines created in VMware or Xen environments and automatically convert them into Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization virtual machines. We expect V2V to be extended in a future beta release to support conversion of Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 virtual machines images.

“We’ve been running mission-critical applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux for a long time. It was that experience and those results that led us to consider JBoss Enterprise Middleware, and we’re satisfied, and not surprised, knowing that Red Hat’s middleware solutions are as enterprise-class as its platform solutions.” – Brian Clark, chief software architect, NYSE Euronext Find out more at: customers.redhat.com

Screencast style Review and failed attempt at a Install Tutorial of Fedora 13.1 Community Remix OS with Linux Mint Menu 1.5GB ISO 32bit. This is a Red Hat RPM like Linux-based OS called Fedora and a remix created by some community people who added the Linux Mint custom Menu with a search function to try to make it more user-friendly. This guest OS failed to install inside the Sun VirtualBox Virtual Machine which was running on Kubuntu 6.10 64bit host OS. Original video production by the www.OSGUI.com Tech Show.

Review style Screencast video of Fedora Linux 13 Beta 32bit KDE edition Live CD Open Source GNU/Linux Operating System. I demo this OS inside VirtualBox Virtual Machine inside of Kubuntu Linux 9.10. My conclusion is that Fedora is not easy to use or ready for the desktop or laptop masses of everyday uses, it is still just for geeks in server rooms, in my opinion. Fedora Jesse Keating has announced the availability of the beta release of Fedora 13: The beta release is the last important milestone of Fedora 13. Only critical bug fixes will be pushed as updates leading up to the general release of Fedora 13, scheduled to be released in the middle of May. A universe of new features for end users: automatic print driver installation; desktop enhancements – the Shotwell photo manager, Deja-dup backup software, Pino Identi.ca / Twitter client, and Simple Scan scanning utility; NetworkManager improvements include better Mobile Broadband, Bluetooth, and new CLI abilities; color management; enhanced iPod functionality; experimental 3D graphics support extended to free Nouveau driver for NVIDIA cards….” Original video production by the www.OSGUI.com Tech Show.
